I thought this was about forcing users to watch 8000 hours of YouTube before their own videos make money and I hate I had to open the article before realizing.
Many years ago a guy who worked in the office at this warehouse i was working for had a small channel where he unboxed and built models and showed off new models and such. He was making like 20-30 bucks a week off his couple thousand views per video. Then they changed the entire platform to the hours watched system and he was cut off.
Idk i guess it’s not that relevant but i felt really bad for him
But I’m sure they’re more than happy to cram these people’s videos full of ads despite those people not seeing a cent of it.
Youtube honestly seems to be trying to do everything in their power to drive people off the platform and have it be bots and AI only.
Gotta assume they’re trying to shore up revenue because more people are using ad blockers to not get blasted with the dumbest shit imaginable for a 10 second clip.
