Why, do you know me from somewhere? The key word there is “seems”; if you truly get fulfilment from mindless Internet scrolling, pot and masturbation then go for it. That’s just not my experience. When you posted that here did you not expect other people to share their own perspectives?
It was a tongue in cheek comment, but, since you asked…
If I said fishing, would you have considered that succumbing to boredom, or overcoming it?
I’m going to guess overcoming, because that’s a legitimate hobby. You sit there, tug your rod for a few hours and then go home. And, if you’re a catch and release fisherman, you’re going home empty handed. Really nothing more fulfilling about wasting an afternoon fishing than jerking it, but society has deemed one a hobby and the other a “dirty thing we don’t talk about”
Well mine was a tongue in cheek comment too, and I thought quite friendly and fun, and then you decided to call me prejudiced. The main point I was picking up on was mindless internet scrolling which is something I do when I’m unhealthily managing my boredom, it’s a warning sign for me, maybe it’s not for you, but I thought I would share my perspective, as I did in a non-judgemental way. Masturbation is perfectly fine, it can be healthy, it can be not, when combined with mindless internet scrolling it didn’t sound healthy to me but that’s just me. I don’t get fishing either but I wouldn’t judge someone for it, just like I didn’t judge you, but you responded like I did judge you, it’s like we’re on Reddit or something.
I don’t think they were calling you “prejudiced” as it were, they were just outlining that judging whether something counts as a “real” hobby or just succumbing to boredom is flavoured a bit by our own views and opinions :)
But they did, I made a friendly comment, I was even self-deprecating about it, mostly to be funny, and they accused me of having prejudices. I don’t take well to being called prejudiced, I’m not and hate people who are. Then they randomly brought up racism, that was a weird exchange.
I totally see that your comment was friendly and there wasn’t any ill will, and I can definitely understand reading their comment as a bit accusatory - but the word “prejudice” isn’t the same as how I think we’re viewing being “prejudiced”. Sort of like if they said it was your opinion, that would feel different to calling you opinionated, you know?
I don’t think they were intending to be hostile, is all I’m saying. I think it’s just a case of crossed wires tbh - but I hope you’re well and have a good day! ✌️
The only difference between those and “real” hobbies are your own prejudices.

😂 Wait. Did you think I called you a racist?
No. OK, you’re not being a rational person here so goodbye.
