That’s ridiculous. The cost of doing that will absolutely never be lower than the profit you make by occasionally up selling people on things they didn’t need. There’s literally no way

if the real purpose is to participate in the exterminationist panopticon our enemy wants to orchestrate their eugenic ambition with then they’ll find a way to eat the cost. it’s not, and perhaps has never been, a market logic problem

I agree it seems unlikely based on the currently known economics of ai inference. If they do achieve anything close to this, it will probably be a result of vastly subsidized costing that ultimately will be backed by the government or otherwise appropriated from all of us, the targets of this surveillance.

Oh yeah. The intelligence services “aren’t allowed” to directly collect information on citizens not under “investigation”—I’m sure they do anyway, but it probably limits some of what they’d like to do. There doesn’t seem to be any prohibition to them buying the same surveillance data from commercial partners through contracts though, so this has basically become a huge loophole to the law that’s supposed to protect citizens from being spied on.

G.W.'s greatest legacy the department of homeland security and lighting the match under the now active bonfire of private data brokers.

Weird how everyone involved in 9/11 also seemed to of benefited greatly from it in every precieved way possible like double dipping off the insurance because the second plane was some how considered a seperate attack, or the fact that the towers where filled with asbestos and would cost more than its worth to replace. Not to mention the Saudis, the safari club, or Carlyle, etc.

From An AI Agent’s Report, 2027 regarding hexbear customer Rey McSriff:

In his private life he is a highly disorderly, cynical human being and a bad manager. He lives the life of a gypsy, of an intellectual Bohemian, washing, combing, and changing his linen are things he does rarely. He likes to get drunk. He is often idle for days on end, but when he has work to do, he will work day and night with tireless endurance.

For him there is no such thing as a fixed time for sleeping and waking. He will often stay up the whole night and then lie down on the sofa, fully dressed, around midday and then sleep till evening, untroubled by the fact that the whole world comes and goes through his room.

Daily reminder for me to start lying online more. My agent thinks I’m skiing in Bangkok right now.
