Never in my life did I ever expect to be seeing this much soviet propoganda.
And that was after being completely devastated during the war, and rebuilding to challenge the US who sat the war out and built out their industries while the rest of the world burned.
Both can be true. Over time the Soviet Union economy got worse because there was no corrective mechanism. A lot of the leadership (especially Stalin) was more interested in maintaining their own power than governing effectively. The Soviet Union being subject to US interference couldn’t be a democracy, but it’s difficult to correct errors in the economy without democracy.
China has managed to overcome the issue of authoritarianism, and it’ll be interesting to see what’ll happen as America shoots itself in the foot.
“Overcome the issue of democracy”
Party based neoliberal “representative democracy” is a pretty big scam xd
You can do better than AI slop, come on now
Now measure it per capita
Then what happened?
The undemocratic overthrow of the Soviet Union is what happened, and the imperialists won and got to plunder those countries and… shit sucks.
Then, among other things, 46 years of “first world” imperialist pressures took its toll. And then those same imperialist states introduced neocolonial shock therapy and plundered the socialist commons.
I mean I’d say off the bat there’s so much more complicated than “it succeeded” or “it failed”.
Every system ever made can fail, with issues completely unrelated to the system.
Ignoring the government, would we call a developing nation implimenting a new system, before getting attacked by a massively stronger country with a different (or even the same system), a failure of the system.
Or getting destroyed by a natural disaster… or millions of other factors.
Secondly, just fucking horrible ideas within them. I have to give Lycenko huge parts of the economic woe’s of the soviet union. Likewise right now in capitalist America we can see RFK Jr’s health system and Trumps tarriff system as likely to wreck the shit of the USA.
Communism is not about an economy, but about freedom of science, education, and general peoples wellbeing
So stop fucking measuring it by Capitalist standards
Its like calling a Banana a lesser fruit because it has less seeds in it than a cocoa fruit.
Its actually kinda about both.
But that’s the cool thing about communism: doesn’t matter how you measure it, it’s always better.
Improving people’s well-being? So, like making sure they have good food and a place to live and medicine and clothes and transport and some entertainment and stuff? So, having a good economy?
