Then the ship left” She fell on the trail headed back. Sending an 80 year old, who felt ill, back unescorted was a failure in duty and comprehension. In fact, take the age out of it, sending anyone who feels ill back unescorted is a failure in duty and comprehension.

That seems the most likely:

My guess is, falling to death off a trail on a place called “Lizard Island” was likely pretty awful.
