Can we get rid of the stupid petrol price cycle BS while we’re at it ?

Also let’s remember that we export more crude than we use and the only reason this is an issue is because we only have two refineries left because ‘global economics more efficient’ (i.e. cheap labour elsewhere). Dig stuff up, send it overseas, never process it here is a stupid model.

That’s already done, just buy an EV

More broadly, “the only reason this is still an issue” is we have been dragging our feet on electrification in general. We have known for decades that gas and oil are finite and cause pollution but it’s always someone else’s problem until the prices inevitably go up.

Yup, renewable / EV (only really viable in the last half decade though) is my preferred solution too.

Psssst. I have a secret to share with you.

Modern ICE and hybrid cars don’t respect your privacy either. And neither does that phone you carry with you everywhere.

It isn’t relevant that other cars also fail to respect privacy, and phones are even less relevant.

Whataboutism isn’t going to get me to buy an EV that doesn’t respect my privacy.

You can do what you want and I hope you get the results you deserve.

Well, you could always go for a conversion kit on an older car.

              Hope this helps.

The only companies I see doing it have like 4 show pieces on their website with no indication of costs. I reckon some collector has paid bank for eg, their restored land rover to get converted and figured as long as it costs less than a tesla they’re good.

I haven’t seen anything in the reasonable price for an ev conversion. I’d be happy to spend ~$15k getting my old car done but that doesn’t seem to be an option yet.

There’s some interesting motors that seem to fit between the wheel and hub, but they all seem to be in prototype.

Plus the petro lobby is pushing to slow all this down to keep everyone addicted to their junk.

I’ve been looking into it but it is an expensive way to go and not many old chassis make a good platform.
