Hit a paywall but the complaint seems to be that they just freeze up around emergency vehicles…
Which would easily be fixed by making their programming respond appropriately to emergency lights.
But with Waymo defaulting to overseas humans, the real solution is them training those low paid employees better. It likely doesn’t even matter how they program the car to interact with emergency lights, because a human is in control by then.
