The doorbell rang at a time of day when I don’t like to open," Mr Helberg told television channel TV2

    I feel ya, Mr. Helberg.

So the pilot and the homeowner both slept through the crash? Weed is legal there, isn’t it?

Could have very easily been a mechanical failure. There are plenty of examples of cargo ships like that losing engines, losing steering, etc.

I’d expect some kind of alarm if that happens, but I would be wholly unsurprised if they saved money by omitting it.

The watch officer apparently admitted that he fell asleep. I find it astonishing that such giant ships don’t have an autopilot that can at least stop the ship before it crashes into land. Or a dead man’s switch which would wake up the watch man or someone else.

It’s more astonishing to read in the article that this is the second time this ship has run aground in the past 3 years.

Wild. I swear when I read this article it said the pilot was suspected of falling asleep. I must have read a different article. This one says:

The watch officer of a large container ship that ran aground and crashed into a garden in Norway has told police he was asleep at the time of the incident.
