What level of android enforced this bullshit? Is it android it’s self, play services, play store? I could run Linux or alternative android based operating systems on my phone. I don’t even use the play store, pretty much everything I use is from fdroid, plus a few direct APK downloads like steamlink. Valve are based and actually let you download the APK files directly from them. Why do so many others make it difficult or impossible to obtain them?
My moto was dying so I got a new one. If they release a Linux that works for this phone I’m going to jump right in. If not I’ll wait patiently for whatever they’re cooking up with a Linux distro in it. Better if it’s native and not on fucking Google shitware.
Too late got a Pixel last week and I’m already on Graphene.
So what’s the strategy after September? Do I need to jailbreak to be able to install my .apk’s?
Eat the rich?
That’s the overarching strategy. But I mean specifically if I want to continue sideloading .apk’s onto my Android
Switch to GrapheneOS.
