Sometimes playing the straight man and taking the joke seriously is part of the fun.
Pretending to take it seriously can be a fun bit. Starting fights on the internet while pretending to be a victim ruins everyone’s day.
Yeah, you can usually tell whether they’re just playing along or trying to start a fight.
Playing the victim is the internet equivalent of the “I’m not touching you” game kids play to annoy other people. Being a turd in the punch bowl is the best case scenario as it is the only goal of the game.
