The Switch 1 has both (LCD & OLED) variants, as the original one came out with an LCD screen by default while the OLED one came out in 2021 (and the ToTK special edition of that console released when the game came out). For me, I prefer the OLED panel since the colors look sharper & vibrant. Also, it makes no sense as to why the Switch 2 reverted back to an LCD screen when they literally could’ve made that OLED by default.

    Yes, it does. Especially if you play outside in the sun.

    And of course it makes sense why the 2 doesn’t have an OLED screen. Cost. The internals aren’t the same price as the Switch 1. You’re paying for the PC-style upgrade. They couldn’t have the thing be OLED only and $600 at launch, and they probably didn’t want to split production into two lines immediately.

    Looks like it paid off for them too, given the sales records.
