So many people think open source games are a no-go. But there are many good FOSS games. Luanti CTF is one of those games I really enjoy. It is based on the open source voxel game engine Luanti which has similarities with the closed source Minecraft game.
I have been playing this game since youth years. And now I also develop the game :)

Edit: See this post from rubenwardy on history of CTF. He started the game. And as he lost interest, he did a wise choice to hand it over to someone else.
Edit2: This server, and also other servers in the JMA network is strictly family friendly. Bear this in mind when playing on the server. This also means it could be a good playground for your kids, if you’ve got any :)
Don’t judge me, but I setup a minetest server and let my children use luanti and told them this is Minecraft.
And BTW, I edited the post. JMA servers are strictly family friendly. So you can join with your kids. Actually, there are few father-daugher or father-son who play together. I think there were also husband-wife couples but dunno if they still are around.
Me little cousins call all these games “Minecrafts” and then call Luanti “A minecraft”. Like “I have installed a good minecraft” xD
BTW, AES mini games are also fun. But the player base is much smaller. Good if you can coordinate with a number of friends to join there at the same time and have fun :)
Luanti is such a terrible name for what used to be called Minetest.
I agree Luanti isn’t the best choice for that rename, but at least they switched away from minetest. IMO the original name didn’t help it sound as a mature and active developed project.
I get it, they needed to change from Minetest to something better (because of the test) and to not get associated or confused with the original Minecraft (because of the Mine). I don’t know what, but it sounds like they wanted to have a creative and somewhat original name. I admire this goal (if it was), but in the end the chosen name is not good. I forgot it was Minetest and opened the post to see what it is about.
Well… I might agree but I don’t think I want another round of hot discussions and then a new name…
