It’s across the PC lineup. People aren’t buying new computers when RAM is crazy expensive, unless they’re a work system. Even then, IT departments are cutting units to the bare minimum to scrape by.
It’s entirely the fault of AI tech bros and memory foundries selling all their capacity for the next X years to them.
Valve has said they don’t subsidise the cost of hardware by selling at a loss the way that console makers do. For consoles, it’s a loss leader to get people committed to a walled garden where they can only buy from that store front. It’s the Costco hotdog.
