Well, it’s not in Ancient Greek. 😉
One interesting choice he made was in pulling in a character from a ROMAN epic called the Aeneid, which was kind of like fan fiction based on the Greek epics. “Look at us! We were in the Illiad too!”
This is by definition asking for spoilers. If I told you it was a 1:1 remake, that spoils that there are no twists.
No I would see that like a motherfucker I had to memorize about half the poems in that. So I always envisioned different stuff when I was younger and then different stuff when I was older. You could just say it’s faithful to the poems and books. Or it is an exact copy and they even speak in the same prose and stuff. It was a simple question
There are multiple removed sections (like the Lotus Eaters). The gods don’t appear at all. Mentor is technically in it but only appears for a few moments. The whole point of the story is different, with an ending that makes a certain (very good) point, but isn’t Homeric. Circe doesn’t live in a palace but more of a hovel. Most of the fun bits from the poem are gone. All that said it isn’t a bad movie at all, but it is definitely an interpretation. You probably couldn’t make a watchable movie of the entirety of the Odyssey, especially with how attitudes have changed after thousands of years.
