See my other comment (sorry, Voyager seems to generate weird share links).

While violence at schools does exist in Europe, the numbers just don’t compare to the US.

And don’t forget! The US has stabbings too, its just that you have so many shootings that a stabbing won’t make the news.

    Also, what are “grooming gangs”?

The US doesn’t only have stabbings too, it has more per capita than the UK.

In addition to the gun murder disparity

Grooming gangs are paedophile rings that groom children. They became a cause celebre of the right because an extremely prominent case in the UK concerned one that was uncovered which consisted mainly of Asian and British-Asian men targeting white girls. Those white girls were, initially, dismissed by the police with the typical reasons. When concerns were raised, there was a reluctance to treat them seriously because those with responsibility were worried about perceptions of racism due to the race of those accused.

In the end, the police did investigate and got convictions. I just described the Rotherham case, I think there was another with some similarities.

I’ve never heard any international comparisons, and as far as I remember, white people commit more child sexual abuse in the UK per capita than other races, but obviously that doesn’t stop the right wing weaponising it.

So the real perpetrators of injustice were the misogynist cops we found along the way.

I don’t think that would be an accurate summary of a situation in which children were groomed and raped, nor one in which the police eventually did their job, to be honest.

Regardless of the right wing weaponisation, going the complete opposite way on everything they’re saying about it is a serious mistake.

Well true it was an offhand sarcastic comment. And I know near nothing about the case besides the headlines. And I’m not saying this sort of corruption is widespread in the UK.

But the wiki page about the grooming gangs scandal notes “Several government reviews have reported failures by British institutions in preventing, identifying and prosecuting the widespread cases”. And a later “Casey report concluded that the council was “not fit for purpose” and had a culture of bullying, sexism, covering up information and silencing whistleblowers”.

Which is exactly what I’d guess why a grooming gang can operate without being investigated for so long. I didn’t go by “every accusation is a confession” which is also often true.
