24 epis per season too.
Time to rewatch The Wire again…
And 20 episodes per season. Each episode 40 to 60 minutes.
Supernatural or Smallville for sure. Or Stargate sg1.
I just discovered Person of Interest, and have been binge watching it
Soul crushing when it ends on a major cliffhanger and you find out it was cancelled.
I’m a leaf in the wind, watch how I soar.
At least some get a movie to end it.
Fringe, Fargo and True Detective
For me:
The Following
Ash vs Evil Dead
Mr Robot
IT crowd
Futurama
Chuck
Ash vs Evil Dead was super enjoyable.
I can’t believe you found out about Futurama later but I am old, so good news everyone. Another person has found out how great Futurama is.
Also, fucking Jeffster! I loved Chuck and how they sold out to subway in order to get the series going. They did those subs right. I used to get subway on Mondays just cause that was Chuck day. They lost it at the end when everyone was getting the intersect instead of just Chuck. Still a fun time.
Add in Person Of Interest and Utopia, then you’ve got yourself a deal
Lost, Supernatural
If you enjoyed lost then From might also be your jam
Spiral, French TV series Wire in the blood, UK series Merlin, BBC.
I loved Merlin, i really should go back and watch it again
I watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer for the first time this year. It was the perfect end-of-day comfort show.
Now I’ve finished all 7 seasons and there is a hole in my life.
Ope, that hole is a rough one. I still crave more similar style shows with that good mix of light and dark and urban fantasy that doesn’t need to take itself too seriously.
Wildly different show, but The Magicians scratches a somewhat similar itch, especially after season 2. It’s definitely darker, but is also about young people struggling with the consequences of living in a world with magic that most people don’t know about while also having fun with it from time to time
Supernatural?
Angel is pretty good but takes a season or so to find its feet.
The problem with angel is that there’s always something wrong with it.
Buffy regularly has seasons that are clearly what it should be and it’s easy to remember the baseline of what it is. Season 1 is monster of the week, high schoolers finding their footing. Season 2 has Angel, 3 has Faith. You don’t ever feel like “wait why isn’t soandso here”.
Angel is the opposite. Every watch I’ve wondered why some characters take so long to arrive or leave so soon when they’re so iconic. The overarching story also kinda meanders and I think part of the problem is that Angel is just a worse center for a show than Buffy was (or Cordelia was, I’m still mad she was written out). Also season 4 (or whatever the season with Connor being edgy) was actively bad. Then unfortunately the show was canceled after the best season where it felt like it finally understood itself.
Still absolutely worth a watch, it did great things for a few of the characters of Buffy who had to leave Sunnydale, as well as having more post face turn Cordelia and some of the best Faith scenes.
It’s not at all similar but try Psych
I should rewatch psych. It was a really fun show. Colombo but he’s psychologically incapable of maturity
I recently discovered Hamiltons Pharmacopeia and that shit is exactly what I need. Sadly it only has 3 Seasons.
The Shield, full series
Graceland, 1st season
Dexter, seasons 1-4You’re welcome 😉
Since no one else has said it, I want to recommend “Dark.” It’s German, so subtitled unless you watch it dubbed, but oh shit what a lengthy ride
Dark was good, but it ended with too many holes for my liking. (Can’t remember them now, sorry).
Thank god I didn’t have to scroll too far to find this!
Barney Miller
M.A.S.H.
Star Trek: DS9
Adventure Time
Gravity Falls
Buffy/Angel
TNG, DS9, VOYAGER, enterprise was suppose to go to 7 seasons, but it was cancelled.
It actually got really good when Berman and Bragga gave up on it and gave it to Moore but it was too late.
most shows lasting that long have great arcs, as it allows time to flesh the characthers and lore. nushows are too short to capitlize that. sg1, old trek. AOS(agents of shields). maybe except for shows that have to adhere to comics, and the story ends with it.
supernatural 1-5 golden era, shouldve ended there, 6,8 is are pretty decent adding some change of story"post apocalypse" 7,9,10 were fillers, 11 had a somewhat ok season with the god counterpart, 12-14,15 were total fillers. aside from the final princes, dint like how jack was shoehorned into the show to give him a nepostic chance of acting, one of the reason they dint bring back the anti-christ.
Not bringing back the anti-christ was a huge failing of that show. His episode was one of the best and they could have built out such a good arc for him.
yes, i believe the reason was dabbs/ and the other writer wanted jack in future seasons when he is old enough, they wanted the nepo to be the star of the show. this was according to the interviews, they were like avoiding the question why jessie isnt coming back. i think the actor was interested in coming back as older anti-christ, if he wouldve been recasted. likely the reason why Darkness was quickly squared away, because “jack had to be the only GOD”
The jack chracther was a cameo in the BOYz, dint realize he was in there, im guessing his career isnt jumpstarted like they wanted.
