    Like wasting soldiers and ammunition to invade Finland, also giving the Nazis another ally in the process?

        Yes. Finland wouldn’t have sided with the Nazis had Stalin not attacked them. Even more, the Soviet invasion of Finland shows that Stalin felt he could trust Hitler to honor the Molotov-Ribbentrop pact. Stalin trusted only one person in the whole world, and that was Hitler. Almost like a tragic love story, if they weren’t both credible contenders for the title of “Worst Human in History”.
