Canada believes Donald Trump is no longer interested in turning it into the 51st state, Prime Minister Mark Carney said Tuesday.
Asked by CNN’s Christiane Amanpour on the sidelines of the NATO meeting in the Netherlands whether Trump is still saying he wants to annex Canada, Carney replied, “No, he is not.”
“He admires Canada,” Carney told Amanpour. “I think it’s fair to say, maybe for a period of time (he) coveted Canada.”

It’s a little stupid to bring this up. You have to treat the Trump administration like toddlers, ie. when they ask for something, you just have to be firm, ignore it, and wait for it to go away. Raising the topic again will just make your toddler throw another tantrum.
I get that he was asked this by a member of the media, but nobody should be talking about this. You just have to change the topic - again, exactly the same way you deal with toddlers.

Toddlers also have to learn object permanence and that the world will still talk about toys, even if they don’t have any. People will bring the annexation threats up, because it was top of mind and, quite frankly, scary for us for a few months.

If Trump can be laughed at by literally the entire UN in 2018, he can withstand some talk of what he himself brought about.
Despite the jokes and fitting comparisons, Donald Trump is not a child, he is an adult, and must (not should) face the ramifications of his words and actions.

I don’t believe Trump, nor Carney.
His first move was basically applied the main point of the conservative party’s program. He uses the “right to defend” Israël’s talking point, defended US’s stike on Iran, introduced a conservative wet-dream bill on data control and access, and he never said a single word about environnement. Yet, all he get’s is praises. Seriously fuck Carney. All over the world, the Left is basically dead. Almost like if people believe that the solution to 40 years of right wing policies is far-right policies. Whatba stupid time to be alive.
