24/7 supermarkets, an internet where people could be more open, more night activities, legal drugs

Not in my area either. There were a lot of 24x7 Grocery stores pre -2020.

I am not sure that they reduced hours because of not trusting people though. I am sure they reduced hours because people get a lot more delivered.

There was one Walmart by us that would try to be open 24/7, it would last a month before something would happen and they would go regular for 6-8 months before trying again.

So I do see that being a legit reason for some.

The location was right off the main highway, so I think it was the thefts. Dunno if it was the police telling them they couldn’t or whatever.

The ones further in the communities don’t have as quick a getaway and less secluded?

A lot of stores like Walmart do their stocking and cleaning at night, so there are generally some staff there anyway. So, the cost for Walmart is usually just a couple of cashiers to handle the nighttime traffic.

During the Covid years, all our 24-hour groceries changed back to a 12-hour model

You can’t even get fast food after midnight here, fuck third shift workers amirite?

Ours all changed to 24 hours to give people more time to shop and for people to be able to distance… Most are back to regular hours now, but 24/7 have always and do still exist.

We used to have a very small handful of 24/7 supermarkets before covid. Now I think we have one in the entire city of 1.6million. Everything closes before 8pm. I think its just a mix of people not wanting to spend money because everything is expensive and violent crime. There is to many random assaults caused by drunk people.
