I can’t find it online, but in the end, they did not pay taxes - just voluntary tribute, in the same amount, of course.

One should never live in a red state if it can be avoided. Sure, you pay less in tax, but you get shit like this. Just feel bad for the kids who don’t know any better and/or don’t have a choice.
But generally more in “fees” and other things that are really taxes but just aren’t called that.
