I have an EV with capacitive touch buttons for everything and a screen in the middle of the dash that basically exists solely to serve up CarPlay.
Maybe it’s because I’m older and have already lived through crank windows, no air conditioning, no airbags, and all that stuff, but I much prefer the creature comforts. I don’t really see a compelling reason to go backward.
I too lived in the forgotten days of crank windows and 3 ashtrays for every lapbelt. So it’s not because you remember those days and I don’t. I’m sure it’s because you like easy things and have money to spend on better car and choose to do that with your extra money rather than feed the hungry and shelter the homeless. I’m guilty of the same.
Can’t save the world, but I try to give back when I can. This economy has me in a vice too. I bought the car before everything went to hell. No way I would now, but I think CarPlay would still make the short list of requirements.
