Had to look up CD skips to be sure we were thinking of the same thing. Pretty sure you can emulate that using a similar setup to what I have: a portable LG USB disc drive and VLC. IDK if this is a me issue specifically, but VLC loves to cause the first few seconds of any song on CD to skip when using that portable disk drive of mine.
Anyone listening to 90s music today will miss out on an important element that is lost today: the CD skips.
