The reason why I stick with motorola is because the Android they ship is the closest to pure AOSP. (From what’s avaiable in my country)
I wouldn’t recommend a motorola because of the software. I have a g60s and it’s not really stable. Every once in a while it reboots and then gets stuck on the boot screen, drains the battery. The UI is also buggy: app switching from the recents view may not work, the quick network selection screen may get stuck. Also, some very specific colours flicker. A developers option makes it go away but the option turns itself off after some time.
I daily drive a moto g14 for about a year now. A rather basic phone, but thankfully still didnt have any software related issues yet :P hope motorola gives some care to your model tho
Moto g60s is also a cheap model and it’s over 3 years old now. Unlikely that I’ll ever receive another update as the last one was in august 2023. At least I can unlock the bootloader but that doesn’t help much bc there are no other roms for it.
Alternatively, you could try to install a GSI instead of a fully custom built ROM, that’s how I got a custom rom back when I had a Samsung A03 Core. But even then, the way android is locked down on each device along the absurdly short support Motorola offers is really infuriating.

Lenovo bought Motorola from Google in 2014, so yes, Motorola is “now” Lenovo, but this has been so for over a decade.

I don’t know why companies don’t just put the release year in the name. That’d be much simpler than having to keep track of device generations.
I guess this way people often just think that higher number is better, even if only subconsciously, and people will more often by a newer phone. but single increments like with the generation don’t have the same effect if the numbers are already large, and if they would use the release year maybe that wouldn’t have this effect on sales because people know it’s just the year. and a change from 2024 to 2025 does not seem to be so big as from 5 to 6

Bought an orange pi recently and had a similiarily confusing experience with naming schemes.
Seems to be a common thing with Chinese tech, honestly. It’s kinda frustrating.
Western ones are also shitty tho. AMD and nvidia constantly changing up their naming schemes. Adding random X and T letters.
I decided not to buy another Xiaomi phone when the one I previously had would turn off when it was a bit mildly cool outside.
Like, I would take it out of my pocket to look at bus schedules but it would turn off after a few seconds of being exposed to 5°C, saying the battery was dead. Another time I had it attached to my bike handlebar and it kept turning off because apparently 13°C with the wind was also too chilly. Every time that fucking Xiaomi phone was feeling a bit chill, the battery would just die. And not even in freezing temps!
I looked online and everone of the fanboys on the forums kept saying that this is normal, battery performance degrades in winter, that iPhones do the same, and apparently all other phones do the same. In short, I had unreasonable expectations.
Yet, all my other phones’ batteries didn’t die within seconds of taking them out of my pocket, even in winter.
So, I don’t have to bother with their names anymore.
I think it just happens with older degraded batteries. My old huawei had the same problem.
But it was maybe a few months old at best. Maybe it had a defective battery from the start but I contacted Xiaomi and I’ve been told it was “normal” in “winter”. Then when I looked online for this issue with Xiaomi phones, the people on the forums said it was “normal”, and that I expected too much.
In the end it was probably a defective battery. I couldn’t believe that they were selling millions of these and that people always just kept them warm all the time. Like, they have a proper winter too in some parts of China, and I can’t imagine millions of people having their phone dying on them as soon as we get into sweater weather.
But obviously this left a bad taste in my mouth. This and having to ask permission to root my phone.

China has a big problem with selling an identical product fifteen times through twelve different companies.
I think it’s an SEO strategy for Amazon, where they edge out any competition by being everywhere on the first page of search results. They also have the ability to game reviews by killing any products that get bad reviews and recreating them under a new brand.
Idk if its so much a china problem as just an amazon problem in general. Dropshipping made it a thing i think. Since you’ve got dozens of drop shippers trying to sell the same product. Then companies selling direct had to try to maintain their SEO by doing this so their listings are not drowned in dropshipper listings.
