It’s the privatization of Operation Mockingbird. In the 70’s the U.S. Military and Intelligence apparatus got caught using military grade psychological warfare on it’s own civilian population post WWII (Church and Pike Committee’s). So the parasitic rich started getting together every year at the Billionaire’s SummerCamp, where they could consolidate the media industry. After the hammer fell on Citizen’s United, all the stops got pulled out, and now they are going for total control: mind control.
If you want to fight it, ditch your cellphone and start making friends the old fashioned way. Buy board games, go hiking. Stop using media, social media. On the other hand you can support real journalists on substack/patreon.
Next year, come protest with me a the Billionaire’s SummerCamp.
Lol. Playing board games isn’t going to save us.
yes , but not like it was public property before , it just changed hands
ohhh. thank you for this. i definitely have uncritically gobbled up the outrage on this topic, but this is a more valuable framing.
media was at least owned by dozens or hundreds of separate entities that all had different viewpoints and agendas and would employ more people with working class pedigrees.
oldschool issues of seventeen magazine have more wokeness in them than what people complain about nowadays. that was a national coffee table publication read by millions of teen girls.
in 2026, there’s no resistance whatsoever other than internet chatter that doesn’t amount to fuck all. i don’t even mean resistance that matters but at least someone who writes for a national publication who’ll rip into a tv show or film and call it whiny, out of touch yuppie bullshit.
our entire culture has been gentrified.
All over the world, wherever there are capitalists, freedom of the press means freedom to buy up newspapers, to buy writers, to bribe, buy and fake “public opinion” for the benefit of the bourgeoisie.
– Lenin
Free speech is when the rich controls the algorithms of what people are allowed to talk about.
