The irony of two ICE agents, one black and one seemingly a Cuban immigrant, racially profiling a black man and cuffing him and carting him off without ever even identifying him because they say he’s an immigrant.

It kills me how often these videos show brown and black ICE agents violating the US Constitution to abduct and beat people for being brown or black. I don’t care how much ICE pays, it’s not worth selling out your own values and everything that was supposed to be good about this country.

And you don’t seem to understand that desperation is no excuse. Plenty of people are desperate, they don’t join the machine that makes them desperate, and make it worse for everyone else, they fight back.

Those that join The Machine are cowards, and if The Machine is as bad as MAGA, then they are also traitors and pedophiles.

And you don’t seem to understand that desperation is no excuse

This is exactly what I meant when I said anyone who dares to say words with nuance or depth gets jumped on.

I never said it was an excuse. Nothing in any of my comments says or implies that. I very literally and directly said these people don’t get to use claiming they were just following orders as an excuse for evil actions.

Trying to understand why people sign up with groups like this is important if you want to stop them and learn how to keep the same thing from happening over and over again. Trying to understand the reasoning behind a person doing awful things isn’t excusing those things.

You’re just so full of hate that you see lots of words and they seem confusing so you get angry and think the other person is “part of the problem.” Don’t become the thing you hate. That’s how those MAGA folks act. If learning the roots of how a genocidal army forms and grows and understanding that the people doing these things are human and have human reasons for doing them is something you think is a problem then you’re starting to see education as the enemy just as much as they do. That’s not a good thing.

Exactly, learning how to starve the beast is strategically valuable. We all must face the consequences of decisions we make, and why you sold your soul doesn’t change that you sold it. But knowing how people who otherwise might not want to sell their souls get put in a situation where they feel it’s their best option is important for us so we can prevent it. And we must acknowledge that whether or not we learn this, the people looking to buy souls are certainly seeking to understand these conditions better.
