The irony of two ICE agents, one black and one seemingly a Cuban immigrant, racially profiling a black man and cuffing him and carting him off without ever even identifying him because they say he’s an immigrant.

It kills me how often these videos show brown and black ICE agents violating the US Constitution to abduct and beat people for being brown or black. I don’t care how much ICE pays, it’s not worth selling out your own values and everything that was supposed to be good about this country.

Most parents would rather assault a stranger than tell their kids it’s time to go live on the streets and if they’re lucky they can find a shelter to get a meal sometime soon.

It’s very easy to call others irredeemable or inhuman when you view them as “class traitors” and see their acts as inexcusable. That’s another reason forming a genocidal mob out of angry, poor, defensive people is much easier. But hate without caring to understand and try to make things better is just signing up to hurt people you see as being bad people, which is the same thing we dislike so much about many of them.

You can point to reasons you feel justified in it and more right and righteous than the other side, and they can point to their own reasons. Two sides doing that with no one willing to understand and try to make things different only ends up with even more suffering and dead bodies.

I specifically said they were not irredeemable, their actions were understandable, and that I wasn’t sure about the word hate. You said that ICE couldn’t use their desperation as an excuse for committing specific acts first, I just broadened the scope of inexcusable acts, so I’m really not sure why you responded like this.

Yes, people would rather hurt others than let their kids starve. No, that’s not an excuse for hurting others, nor for, in my opinion, signing up to hurt others. Apparently you disagree and think that I’m dehumanizing them by holding them responsible.

I was saying it’s very easy to slip into those things when you already call them “class traitors.” Viewing others as bad people and lesser is the first step on that ladder to dehumanizing the enemy and deciding that murdering those who disagree with you is righteous.

It’s better to look at the system and understand what’s driving these things and work to fix that than to demean people for things like joining the military to have a stable income, housing, and education.
