As someone who hasn’t touched a GH/RB game in many years, are the hardware bundles for this a decent entry path back into the genre? Or am I better off getting a used guitar and stocking with Clone Hero?

You kidding? I’m stoked about this for Clone Hero, because it’s releasing new hardware on the market, priced for casual consumers and in brand new condition.
Also nice to have an option for consoles, ofc. I hope this does really well, makes a lot of hardware, and grows the audience for clone hero by introducing new players and bringing a marketing budget to the concept again.
My exact thought when I saw the trailer.
I got into GH when I was getting into some truely weird shit (for 2000s) and picking up the guitar. I’d learn scales and music theory on the actual guitar and play covers on GH, if the song was in there.
GH2 was hitting the sweet spot. I wanted it to get weirder than primus and rush. It never really got there.
Since this isn’t going to bring out the tech death, I realise that I was never going to get back into it. It also seems to lack some of the charm that the original GH had, which they lost as part of the transition to Rock Band anyway.
At least it’s not fucking EA or Activison.

At the very least, I’m definitely curious about it. It will be interesting to find out more information about it.
Expensive… pre-order game and two guitars was $200 USD
That does seem a little high, but it’s two controllers though… What do you think the controllers should cost by themselves?
Not sure tbh… not saying it’s not worth it, just surprised me being $200 bucks, then another $200 for the drums.
