I’m middle aged. Since I was a teen I’ve had bouts of my life where I’d rather feel nothing at all than continue to be depressed. I’m on meds for anxiety already and have had depression throughout my life. I have never been on strong enough dose to make me feel numb but I hear people talk about it. Honestly, it sounds appealing. My life has been mostly negative with small periods of positive. On the whole, I think I’d be better off a robot than permanently end things, IYKWIM.
tldr - people sometimes complain depression meds make them numb, as a bad thing, but that sounds appealing to me. Has anyone done that on purpose and how was your experience?

My experience with emotional numbing from prescribed psychotropics was pretty awful. It was just like being in a waiting room forever.
I only got better when I walked away from seeing my problems through the lens of psychiatry and found ways to accept myself for who I was.
