I know its just a statement, but as someone who just went through all of this honestly the process of eviction is incredibly slow if you have a mortgage (im sure renting is not as forgiving). Its taken years of racking up credit card debt until they were maxed out, then i fell behind on my mortgage for months and eventually did a modification of the loan to settle off the money not paid. Then I fell back into not paying the mortgage again for about 8 months before they started forclosure. Once forclosure started I filed for bankruptcy which stops forclosure and takes months before thats settled out. Now everything is settled and I finally got everything back in order, but if I didnt I asked my lawyer what would happen if I didnt pay and it would then take months again before forclosure started and I can then switch the bankruptcy to a sale of the home which gives me a protection of like 8 months or more depending on the judge to sell and pay the debt.
This makes it feel so easy, but I can assure you living through it is incredibly stressful and not fun times… but the point is even in your worst point in life there are some ways to keep you from going to the streets for a little longer thankfully.
