That’s a recent societal phenomenon. There is a certain tendency for people to generally become more conservative the older they get (which makes sense, as you “settle down” and collect all the things associated with “aging”). Apparently this might be the first generation that goes the other way (which doesn’t mean that every millennial is suddenly a socialist AntiFa terrorist but voting patterns indicate more leftist views than expected).
The conservatism correlates with age, but causation is actually having assets and wealth to conserve (which historically correlates with age also). Millennials by and large don’t have shit, therefore conservatism has little to offer them.
We aren’t getting more conservative as we age. “Conservatism” moves toward the idealism of our youth.
The median age of the House is 57 (Mid GenX); Senate is 64 (Early GenX); President is fucking 80 (Elder Boomer). “Conservative” is currently what the Boomers and GenX’ers considered idealism when they came of age in the 1950s - 1970s.
The oldest Millenials are only 46. They aren’t changing the pattern. They aren’t yet in charge.
Millennials’ midlife crisis is realizing that they owe more on their student loans than they intitally took out despite paying on them and scraping by for the last 20 years.
I really just think all these old people were hateful little fucks when they were young but want to make it sound like someone else made them be this way

That’s what one might conclude from the observation, yes.

Hard to settle down and collect all the things associated with aging when nothing is affordable.
