US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer said Britain’s EU alignment is complicating efforts to expand last year’s trade deal, as new PM Andy Burnham weighs closer ties with Brussels.

Why don’t you liberalise a little bit, accept goods made to American standards, accept agricultural goods made to American standards?

Because no one wants brain worms or shitty lettuce.

Is this supposed to be facetious? Here in the good ol’ US of A, we feed our livestock shit and don’t give our pickers bathroom breaks.

You don’t prioritise a deal with a serial backslider who will break the deal by introducing tariffs on a whim. Also none of us even want chlorinated hormone meat.

Its a necessity rather than a slight - we are physically closer to EU. And its important for many reasons, not just trade.

Frictionless movement over the Irish land border is a good example. Without EU alignment that would be impossible. I’ll bet most of the MAGA roasters have never even heard of the Good Friday Agreement.

You mean to tell me that adding/removing tariffs multiple times a day every day, and threatening to annex your allies will make said allies choose trade relationships with other countries? Colour me fucking bamboozled.
