I’m looking for an app that can translate text directly on my Android screen without using Google Translate.
Ideally, I’d like something that:
is open source has no ads works offline or sends as little data as possible.
can translate a selected area of the screen, including text in apps and games.
I found a few options, such as Offline Translator and Screen Translate, but I’d like to know whether anyone here recommends either of them or knows of a better alternative.

Up for offline translator! Great app
Not exactly what I wanted I wanted an app to translate manga on the screen, Unfortunately, it didn’t work; an error message appeared during installation.
I’m pretty sure that “failed to verify” means that after it downloads, it scans the file to make sure it exactly matches what was expected. There might have been an error in transmission causing something to not match, or the source you downloaded from could have a different copy.
I just tried it on my phone, and it installed fine. Try downloading it again.
In the settings, my repositories are -FUTO: (app.futo.org/fdroid/repo) -F-Droid: (f-droid.org/repo)
and that’s it. Is that what you have as well?
@gatitaQwQ it can actually translate images, so it should be fit. What error did you get?
Error during installation, the photo I sent shows it’-’
@gatitaQwQ ah I see now: from mastodon I don’t see the images on Lemmy. I opened the original link now and saw it. How did you install it? F-droid or direct download?
Anyway maybe you can try what is suggested here

I installed it via f-droid. I think maybe my phone is the problem, I can’t install the app :/ my phone is an older version Many apps don’t work on it.
I’ll have to try another app to translate my manga. /ᐠ。‸。ᐟ\
