    Yeah, it’s the what if totally ungrounded outside of reality that bothers me, because if anything is possible, then there are literally no stakes. The writer can deus ex anything

      Right, this is why a lot of them suck. There are good ones though, depending on what you like of course.

          I’m honestly not a huge fan of the genre myself, but in general I find "I don’t want to be a badass I just want to be a carefree adventurer " slice-of-life type ones the best.

          Fun with a dumb premise: Campfire Cooking. The protagonist is in magical world and his super power is that he can buy groceries from his home world “online” and have them magically shipped to the new world.
