Basic open-source Android apps have felt outdated for years, and the GrapheneOS team is finally stepping in to fix the problem. The developers are shifting resources to completely replace clunky default software with modern tools built from the ground up.
RCS is what I’m most excited about, if they want to increase users they need it.
That’ll be a nice improvement when RCS is available in the default messaging app.
For sure. I do understand that Google Messages works. But… Its Google. And also everytime I’m on their forums there is someone posting that RCS is broken again.
That would be great, but I’m concerned about their ability to actually do it. Not because of a lack of technical ability on their end, but because RCS is highly gatekept — having a good implementation doesn’t help if no servers will allow you to connect.
