Panel 2: the office worker walks out the door while his coworker, still hard at work, watches. A clock on the wall behind the coworker reads 10 o’clock.

    The phrase “It’s 5 o’clock somewhere” is much older than that song. I was aware of that as a fairly popular saying long before the song came out. Apparently, it dates back to at least 1959.

    That doesn’t really affect your point, which is that the comic is just retelling a famous joke almost exactly as the joke was originally stated.
