I see we’re being pretty liberal with the word “factory farm” here.
A decent chunk of the animals represented here are cows in pastures. If you ever drive through Iowa you’ll see dozens of them sun bathing on a hillside several times per mile.
Turns out if you don’t let them chill comfortably they get pretty pissy, and at roughly 1000 pounds, one pissy cow is a problem. Half again more so for a bull. Imagine a herd of pissed off 1000 pound animals in a barn, and you’ll see why “factory farms” are generally just large pastures of lots of cows. Kinda the same for the pigs.
A lot of these though are chickens, which, I mean yeah it’s as bad as it sounds when we’re talking about chickens.
They used the EPA’s definition of a medium to large Concentrated Animal Feeding Farm. They actually excluded small CAFOs which most would consider still factory farms
The cruelty is very important for the taste!
Since learning about Peter Singer’s ideas admittedly late (this year) I cannot find any moral justification to eat meat. We all probably should have switched to vegetarianism a long time ago. If not on ethical grounds, at the very least for the sake of our planet. After all why kill and torture things that can feel pain and have sentience if we could live just as well on plants?

also the Diesel shortage is hurting the bumpkins farmers alot. nice try trying defend the farmers, if you look closely they arnt making the beans, and rice you are eating. they are coming from asia, and other places. they are growing mostly soybeans or things we dont eat. also i wouldnt buy from unethically sourced from like them.
Well, those bumpkin farmers make the rice and beans I need to live, so I’m not going to celebrate that specifically.

Well Iowa is a shithole and a backwater. It’s basically Missouri.
Iowa, sadly, is not alone is having a ton of factory farms. It’s just really well mapped on this site and I thought I’d share that. There are a couple billion farms animals in factory farms in the US outside of Iowa and 10s of billions in other countries :(
