I thought it was safe since water was no longer coming out of the shower, I didn’t consider the high humidity environment.

Why not use that time to soap up and rinse off your body while you wait for the shampoo to do its thing? That’s what I do.
Washing and rinsing doesn’t take that long. I usually shave or clean the shower while I wait, and even that doesn’t take long enough sometimes
As a cyclist, that’s leg shaving time.
Then I gotta condition and I feel slick
