On a related note: the Jem’Hadar have a crippling addiction to drugs to the point that denying them those drugs kills them. The main delivery mechanism of said drugs is A HOSE STICKING OUT OF THEIR CHESTS and not once do we see someone rip the hose out. I mean, Worf carries a knife on him at all times and is highly skilled in its use and nope, Worf never slices the hose. FOH
Slicing the hose kills them later, not now. Y’all dont use a knife to kill someone next week. Y’all use it to put someone down on the ground immediately.
As a less quipy followup, Jem’hadar are established early as clones that mature to adulthood in a matter of weeks. Thats their real threat. Even if you had the inclination to kill them slowly, its almost irreverent. More will come, enmass.
This is fair. Though we don’t know what the immediate effect of interrupting the ketracel white will be. Maybe their addiction to it is so intense that severing the hose completely throws them and they either being to weaken significantly and quickly, or they just totally lose focus? I’m just saying that it might be a strategy to try once. But I get that the costume department doesn’t want to have to go through the trouble of replacing/repairing that hose between takes.
I like the supposition, but we do know how it affects them from the season 6 two part opener of DS9. Some federation members and jem’hadar crashland on a planet. One of the plot points is the limited amount of white available to the soldiers.
From the episode, we know they grow irritable, lose discipline, go into violent frenzys, lose the ability to cloak and eventually die when they dont have white for a prolonged period. This process takes several days at least, although I think the time frame shown in the episode is close to a week, and none of them die from a lack of white.
So I don’t think its viable, but its a good “finishing” move on a battlefield, I.e like bayonetting the wounded enemy that happened in the civil war. I don’t think the federation would condone that behavior, but I’m sure the Klingons and some other races would.
