Class 3 ebikes are only allowed in cities with more than 1 million people in ny state. NYC is the only city in the state above 1 million people and they already limit the speed of class 3 bikes. Also ebikes aren’t legal in the state of NY on streets above 30 mph. Also it’s illegal to ride an ebike on the sidewalk unless there’s a local statute. It’s alright to have a car that’ll go 150 mph or faster though, with over 500 hp, but we’re going to limit commuters or delivery people on ebikes from going the legal speed limit that other vehicles can go making them a hindrance to traffic.
