No they mean the answer to the clue is “it’s a trap” only if you answer “star trek” to the which sci fi is better value.
If you write “Star Wars,” then the correct answer is “It’s a wrap,” even though the Star Wars fan will likely think of “It’s a trap” first. If you write “Star Trek,” then the correct answer is “It’s a trap!” which does not come from Star Trek.

Yesterday puzzmo.com did it with “what colour was the dress”. You could either answer blue or gold and it fit. But it wasn’t as good as this one. And I don’t think You can access archived crosswords on puzzmo.
