Too Used to Prompt

A comic in four panels:

Panel 1. Amall, the small elf scholar takes tea with Cepper, the gothic sorceress. Amall looks at the empty perch while eating a mufin with a pink frost on it. Cepper serve the tea to her guest.

Amall: “Wait, where’s your Avian Intelligence parrot?”
Cepper: “I got rid of it.”

Panel 2. Amall is now curious, while Cepper explains herself, a cup of tea in her hand.

Amall: “Really?”
Cepper: “Yeah, I realized the benefits weren’t worth the costs.”

Panel 3. Amall is confused, and Cepper continues her speech, confident.

Amall: “The… costs?”
Cepper: “The ecological costs. The data scraping. How it’s all controlled by a handful of corporations…”
Cepper: “But mostly how it made my brain lazier and lazier…”

Panel 4. Cepper now asks Amall a question with a pleading pose. Amall realizes her friend invited her with an ulterior motive and responds with a blasé attitude, her pointy hears turning down.

Cepper: By the way, how do I cast a Ring of Fire spell?
Amall: Wait… Have you invited me here just to replace your AI parrot?

      Not replacing the parrot.

Going back to the old days where you learn things from an actual knowledgeable human.

having a mentor, guide, and teacher in great.
Using them for every basic element manipulation spell is what’s the thesis.
Cepper should have tattooed this spell herself decades ago.
I can cast it with kerosene & match!

slice, I loathed being tech support for “family.”
I still do at times, but we have set boundaries with neighbors. If they can’t pay my premium, I won’t bat them next canteen prep.

I wonder if cognitive decline would rise in the near future for middle aged adults.

Well, our ability to remember stuff really declined since invention of books and book printing. But is it a problem?

Like other comment said, cognitive decline not only affect memory, it also affect reasoning. Unable to memorise alone won’t really cause issue, since memory is much more complex than just remember stuff, if combined with unable to reasoning you get someone who made shit up very often because they misremembered something, and then will gaslight you with the wrong thing. Combine that with short attention span and instant gratification addiction, you get Donald Trump.

A prosthetic memory sounds pretty good, since memorisation is boring and only important for what it gets us. But prosthetic reasoning? Do you value your ability to think and plan and make choices?
