If you look at successful communist cultures, like in Australia, the nature of the world isn’t considered quite as objective as it is in the cultural West.

I propose that the belief in objectivity correlates with capitalism for a reason: It is easier to accept an imperfect world when we are taught to believe that it was created by immutable, objective truths. Once we accept that everything is subjective, we begin wanting to remake our culture in a more equitable way. Thus, communism.

I also suspect that Russia and China failed to achieve communism, and instead created state capitalism, because the people didn’t question their capitalist worldviews. Cultural ways of knowing were seen as objective, which lead to stagnation.

It’s not like they’re paying minimum wage cooks to microwave frozen foods. They’ve got a staff of magic slaves cooking away in the basement!

According to David Graeber, in the mediaeval age most adults owned their own means of production. The land belonged to the local lord and you paid taxes on it, but you owned the tools and you had a kind of ownership of the land, cause feudalism is hierarchies of land ownership.

Let’s say you’re a farmer. As a youth, you’ll go and work as a farmhand or a milkmaid on a more experienced farmer’s farm. When you become sufficiently experienced, you’ll marry. The wife’s family gives the husband a bunch of money, and he uses it to buy his own farm. Then he takes on farmhands and milkmaids.

Ever heard of a masterwork? An apprentice artisan, like a blacksmith or a painter, needs to make a masterwork as their final graduation project, and then they become a master, and they’re expected to get their own studio/forge.

During the industrial revolution when people started doing wage labour, for other people, as a full career, it had social consequences. People felt like they were perpetually trapped in adolescence. Because you never got to own your own means of production.

So Marx is saying, we used to all get private property as we grow older (well, men used to). But now 90% of us are wage labourers, we’re never going to have enough private property to get by. Even if you’re, say, a digital artist, you’re probably working on a painting app rented from a corporation, you don’t own it. You don’t own your advertising, you don’t own your distribution, you don’t own your payment processing, you don’t own the house or office you work in.

That didn’t used to be the case. 300 years ago, if you were a man artist, you’d work your way up to having your own atelier and do business face to face with your clients. Now they’re charging us rent for everything. That’s what Marx is saying.

So, M’benga wrote about the particles because he’s a doctor, and they can heal by expanding molecular structures like flesh. Scotty heard about this property and was like “Well can it expand atomic structures too? We could sure use some ‘healing’ on our deuterium reserves”. And turns out it can. So, think of it as a kind of smart matter that turns into whatever it touches. With gravitic containment and good aim, that principle of copying what it touches can do both jobs. And luckily, M’benga has seemingly already designed a hose nozzle smart enough to do the job on flesh. Just copy the molecules in the right places until everything is back to normal.

A University of Southern Queensland (UniSQ) researcher has found that honey bees – a species introduced by European colonisers for honey and crop pollination – may be driving down the population sizes of native bee species, potentially leading to extinction.

Here in Australia, native bees are solitary. All the bee farms use foreigner bees.

Utilitarian hedonist here. I stopped eating prawns because I heard about them pulling the eyes out to increase breeding rates. I decided to research it by watching a video of a prawn having its eyes removed.

Here in Australia, there was a genocide for a long time where the goal was to destroy Aboriginal culture. I mean, there was plenty of murder and eugenics in there too, but the culture was a really big thing. Kids were stolen from their parents and put on missions where they couldn’t speak language or practice religion. English and Christianity only. For a long time, Aboriginal people could only be granted citizenship if they renounced their Aboriginality. No more interacting in any way with the community, no language, no culture.

Aboriginal ontology and metaphysics are fundamentally different to European ontology and metaphysics. It’s a different reality. Consensus reality was made by white people, practicing whiteness in their actions. And then everyone else was forced into it, at least in “the west”. I assert that nonwhite people in the anglosphere are only allowed to join the dominant class, if they give up their own culture and its reality, and practice whiteness and white reality instead. Which isn’t that hard for a lot of bougie people of colour to do, because they’ve been colonised and assimilated.

I think the intersections of race and class are really important to understand, because if we rebel against race and not class, we’ll just end up with racist socialism. You know, like China and the USSR. And we’ll be doing “the people’s genocide” against the Uyghurs or whatever.

I propose instead that the revolution must be decolonial. Communism was invented by Turtle Islanders and Aboriginal people. Engels got the idea from reading Lewis Henry Morgan’s books on the Haudenosaunee. We will achieve successful communism, with no state, by working together with Indigenous people as our Elders and teachers, because they’re the experts. They’ve got the social science to do it already.

I think veganism is when you don’t support animal slavery. Kangaroos aren’t slaves, so their meat is vegan. Simple as.

I’m actually not a vegetarian. I’m a kangatarian.

Kangaroos have evolved over the past 60,000 years to breed in such numbers that their population can sustain hunting by humans. They have no other natural predators, unless you count parasites. Dingos in some places, but not many. The result is that if humans don’t hunt kangaroos, they over-breed. Destroy the local habitat, threatening endangered species, then starve. Some kangaroos must die at human hands for the good of everything else, including the other kangaroos.

So the government uses drone surveys to analyse the population, and then tells people how many kangaroos need to die. Each kangaroo in the quota can either be hunted, or culled. Culled kangaroos will be shot, and their bodies will rot in a ditch. Their meat will benefit nobody. If they’re hunted, then at least some good comes of it. If a kangaroo survives the initial shot, hunters will stun and then kill it. I’m unsure whether the same regulations apply to cullers.

So, I eat kangaroo meat. All kangaroo meat is hunted, there’s not a single kangaroo farm in the world. At least, not the western idea of a farm. Every kangaroo I eat lived a free life in nature, and then died for the good of the ecosystem. No animal slavery.

And I propose a bigger question than honey: is kangaroo meat vegan?

Most of are agreed that the point of veganism is to reduce nonhuman suffering. Following absolute rules for no reason is silly. The point is the ethics.

But the other vegans have the wrong opinion about whether eating honey causes suffering.
