When a new speaker of the house is selected, why must their first act be to physically feign terror and be dragged to the front of the house of commons by their colleagues?

Because the Speaker ultimately gatekeeps what is debated, and many Soeakers lost their heads when Kings decided the Commons was getting a bit too full of itself.

This lady always trolls with terrible English food. But as an ex-pome, I am also quite intrigued by her Philadelphia and quaver sandwich. It probably tastes alright in a “why am I eating this abomination and how is it actually good?” like many British food choices.

Well the “why am I eating this answer” for this would be: I am very poor and only have this, if I had to est it. There’s plenty of great tasting British food but the only times I’ve ever had a crisp sandwich is because I had no money & spare bread & crisps.
