The best European invention was the Suez canal, preventing people from realising that Africa is also the same landmass.
I propose we dig a similar canal from the north of Russia to the Black sea to unambiguously become a continent. Some would argue Caspian sea is more appropriate, but come on: Connecting the Black sea to the White sea? That’s poetic.
This plan would cost trillions, benefit no one and have devastating consequences for millions of people. I will not be answering questions.
In 1999, the warty comb jelly colonized the Caspian Sea via the UDWS. The establishment of this population led to a 60% reduction in the number of sprat, which in turn led to a reduction in the population of sturgeon and seals.
Europe and Asia are the same continental mass but Africa is not. Africa is moving independent to the Eurasian continent and is even slowly producing a new continent at the horn of Africa. So yes, it’s true that Europe and Asia are the same continent but Africa is not. It is also slowly moving into Europe. That’s why the Alps exist.
Behold, the 16 continents: From Wikipedia.
You are of course free to define continent how you want, but I am free to prefer Afroeurasia over a North America that includes parts of Siberia and half of Japan.

It’s already done.
Beautiful ethereal alien ate all the babies :/
In the same vein, does the Kiel canal mean the Denmark is an archipelago instead of a peninsula + islands?
And the Panama canal is when America became two continents? :D
Oh so another ai company then

Bro actually believes in plate tectonics 💀
It’s still so wild to me that something so fundamental and basic was figured out only in the past 60-80 years.
I’m happy to include Japan in North America. Sad to lose parts of California, but it feels fair, especially since we get to keep cuba.
Also this is leaving me wondering about arctic earthquakes…
you also got parts of russia
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1964_Alaska_earthquake
India then should also count as a separate continent since it’s on a separate plate. It’s not clear cut.
also somalia and California
It is often called Indian subcontinent,
Actually, Europe is a large island group that just surfaced some 100 million years ago.
America is also the same landmass. Just has some water inbetween.
I support this plan because it would also separate russia from Europe and give us in Ukraine as well as Baltics a great defensible threshold.
