So then you deny the Union imprisoned Confederates?

Nope. Maybe there was a better way for the Union to handle Confederates, but regardless, they still did more good than harm by freeing the slaves. Acknowledging that the Union did a good thing by ending chattel slavery, or that China did a good thing by ending serfdom, does not require an endorsement of every single other thing the state ever did.

Which is exactly why it’s so baffling that you won’t acknowledge that ending slavery was a good thing!

Yet serfdom exists in all 4 of these nations. Nothing has been liberated whatsoever.
Why it’s so baffling that you won’t acknowledge that slavery hasn’t ended?

It isn’t. But progress has still been made.

By the way, explain this to me. Tibet also had prisons, did it not? In fact, nearly everyone was a prisoner, because they were not free to leave the land they worked on. So, why don’t you look at that and China and give the same, “both were bad” response that you do with the Confederacy and the Union?

“Everything anyone has done in history is completely worthless because it hasn’t instantly created a perfect utopia, except for one little slaver theocracy, which was good because reasons.”

What “progress” has been made that prisons exists on all these nations?
Are Palestinians more free now that Hasan made a motion for some government he is uninvolved in?

Eliminating other forms of oppression is progress, even if not every single one is gone.

Slavery, the one we have been talking about since the beginning, hasn’t been elimated.

Until imprisonment ceases to exist, none are.
              End imperialism.
