He’s the statesman we need at this juncture.

Unironically though, this is how a lot of us should be treating local politics. The direction of the national party starts at a local level.

I think most local politics can have greater participation: when there are more places to hang out and socialize in that community.

It just cannot be done by staying inside, on the internet. People have to meet face to face.

Of course, it would help too if there were political movements that caught people’s attention and whose success could be measured. Trying to elect people who are less corrupt, all by itself, will not inspire many.

It’s Canada, municipal politicians are typically people who cannot otherwise get employment.

This doesn’t nullify the point. Most politicians worldwide are typically people who can’t otherwise get employment. Or they’re people who can only get employment by being golden parachuted in by daddy

Edit: also…from the guys campaign page:

Since 2019, I’ve been building The Rogerie.

Starting as a farmers market booth beside the mall, my wife and I began turning plastic waste into new products in our laundry room. Seven painful years later, and we have a pretty awesome shop downtown by Sprout (come check it out!) where you’ll find me just about every day.

So he’s a small business owner. And was previously employed in manufacturing automation/robotics.

I hope he gets elected, but my local idiots are always promising to fix all the infrastructure while lowering taxes. Spoiler alert: neither will happen.

I’ll fix infrastructure, while cutting a significant part of the funding we receive to pay for things like fixing infrastructure! Will I keep my promise? If I do I will take bids starting at $30k to decide what essential service is cut to fund infrastructure repairs!

We need more people like this in politics, because if they’re not there, we’ll get the bad kinds.

      Precisely.

I want people in politics who want to do the work, not the politicking. I want them to worry about finishing the projects that improve people’s lives, not about re-election or the other candidates.

I trust Brady. I’m not sure how far he’ll go, but when there’s a there that needs getting to, i know he’ll reluctantly take the first step when no one else will. It’s a kind if courage and ethic were missing on capital hill. Real go-getter. Brady, because someone has to.

There was a local politician where I used to work that got reelected for years. His campaign slogan was always the same: “no worse than the rest”
