PC gaming might be standing but it’s costing an arm and a leg to do so.
At least with PC gaming it’s possible to buy an old computer or laptop and have a massive library. It’s not like we’re restricted to the current generation, I could go and play Wasteland on my modern PC with no issue if I wanted to install a couple megabytes.
Also if you’ve got old hardware you can still play the new games, just at much lower settings.
If you’ve got a PS4 you can’t just play PS5 games at lower settings.
Well when I was saying older my brain was thinking decades older like 06, because I’m a Redneck with access to Linux and will see how well it works. Usually it’s surprisingly functional even if I do have to get some weird ass RAM to do mild upgrades, you’d be surprised how many things used to run on 1GB.
Adding on this, all those old multiplayer games you think nobody plays anymore? Yeah, there’s a Discord somewhere just for people to organize play times for that game. For example, the whole arena FPS subgenre still lives on that way, all the way back to Doom and Quake. You can play that old game you love again. Maybe not the instant you try, but you can. You haven’t played for the last time if you’re willing to go look and ask around.
You’re right, these past few years have been awful to acquire a PC
