Russia has attacked a power plant in the eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv despite Donald Trump’s statement earlier Sunday that both sides had agreed to an “energy ceasefire,” according to Ukrainian officials.

A local official told ABC News the thermal power plant CHP-5 was struck at least twice, causing a fire. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in a statement confirmed Russia had attacked the plant, as well as another in Kyiv, saying it had taken place after Trump’s announcement.

If the thermal power plant consumes fuel rather than produces it, what does it matter? The alleged reason for the dropping of sanctions is the shortage of fuel. If anything, that would just mean one less plant consuming fuel and a positive from Trump’s perspective.

The USA consumes around 500000 tons of Diesel per day. Do you really think that the consumption of a single thermal plant would make any difference for US drivers?

You know what would make fuel prices become normal again? Getting the fuck out of Iran.

The whole thing makes no meaningful difference with regards to diesel, which is why I called it the “alleged reason.” But even if you buy that reasoning, if they’re targeting anything other their refineries or oil fields, it doesn’t matter from the perspective of a made-up ceasefire intended to pretend to be doing something about making sure there is enough fuel for the US.
