People want small, efficient vehicles and here in North America, auto makers are ignoring that demand. Since Chinese EVs meet those requirements in other jurisdictions like Europe and Australia, it seems like the only option.

If my partner could get an electric version of their Honda Fit, they would do so in a heartbeat. The smallest hatchback EV is the Bolt EUV which GM cancelled the before it even hit dealer lots in order to make more big vehicles.

It’s more profitable to keep making gas powered for the moment.

But the big auto makers have always been tone deaf to what the public wants and relied on their control of both democrats and republicans in congress to insulate them from reality. They will keep selling F150’s until they are dragged kicking and screaming away from the production line.

Meanwhile Hyundai and Tesla are eating their lunch.

On a positive note, low speed electric vehicle are really big in some areas and growing. I live in a retirement community with an alternative highway system for LSV. The electrics have pretty much dominated sales of late.
