I really can’t wait for tech communities to rid themselves of political tourist so the discussion can go back on how best to use AI instead of the high pitch screeching that fills the space.

I get that some people don’t like AI, but they should really just get back to putting the fries in the bag and stop slop posting.

Does it makes sense to make your development process dependent upon companies that lose billions of dollars every year and are run in a completely unsustainable way? (https://lemmy.world/post/53393512)

I think there can be some application of these things, but becoming cripplingly dependent upon AI when it remains to be seen whether or not the products will continue to be made or updated seems reckless.

AI is not going to die, no matter what. Survivors will crawl out the blast crater, no matter what.

But I’ve said much the same! If your workflow is wrapped too tightly around a particular AI, you may well be in for an ass fucking, and not the fun kind. I think the discussion should be around broad use cases and not, “Claude does it this way.” Does that make sense?

Dude you need to take a break on prompting because it’s starting to bleed into your speech.

There is nothing saying that AI in its current form will continue to exist. The main risk is that the companies providing the models today, as well as those providing open weight models, have been in serious need of a functional business model for years now.

Without the continued investment, on which I don’t know what the return even is, even local run models will go stale.

There’s a frenzy right now that is scrambling everyone’s brains, and tokens are supremely subsidized. I’m asking what happens when the subsidies end?

It’s quite possible to use these things to produce code you are capable of maintaining without them, but it’s just as possible (if not much more likely) to create mountains of shit that nobody understands, in which case we’ll all be pretty fucked the day the models go dark.

Been away from lemmy for a bit and we don’t seem as bugfuck about hating AI as in the past. At least now we can have some conversations about sane use cases without being voted straight to hell.

This is savage af. Is this considered a rare insult? I think it should be.
